FlowerUp is a dry biomass blend available as either a 20 lb or 40 lb bag. The material used in this dehydrated mix of "biomass organics" include porcine bone meal, alfalfa meal, feather meal and etc. The blended components are submerged in an anaerobic tank for 7-14 days to extract the nutrients and create liquid fertilizer using the Bioponica Nutricycler process.
Together with supportive microbes, once extracted, this blend is used to facilitate phosphorus availability and utilization for plant flowering and fruit development.
This blend is developed for the purpose of creating an organic liquid fertilizer utilizing Bioponica’s method of Nutricycling. This is a two step digesting and biofiltration method of decomposing biomasses. It is an alternative to chemical fertilizers containing ammonia/nitrate and nitrate/nitrates. The benefit of nutricycling is that it rapidly speeds up the decomposition of organic matter and puts it into an easy to apply, plant ready/microbe ready liquid form.
Nutricycling is an alternative to dry windrow composting which decomposes similar biomasses (green food discards plus added carbon to achieve an ideal C/N ratio, etc). Dry composting vs nutricycling takes many weeks and loses much of the minerals and ammonia to drainage and volatilization. Dry composting does retain more carbon, however it also requires additional labor of application. If not turned or tilled directly into the soil then the carbon is lost as CO2 atmospheric degradation. Sufficient carbon and humates are present in liquid extracts of biomass to feed microbes and stabilize nutrients within the soil.
Optimal microbes for hydroponics are rhizobacteria from worm teas, moreso than fungal mycorrhizomes from leafy complex structured biomass. Our recommendation is to produce liquid fertilizer from dry biomasses and then following dilution in water and at the time of application, mix in a solution of worm teas. These rhizobacteria feed on the liquid organic diluted fertilizer produced from nutricycling.
Following extraction at a 1lb/3gallon ratio, the final ‘nutricycled’ solution may be diluted at a 1:8-1:10 ratio to provide a suitable nitrogen concentration for hydroponics growing when growing moderate to heavy feeding plants.
For organic hydroponics growing it is advisable to use the two step process in order to extract liquid nutrients from the biomass blend and then decarboxylate or further remove carbon organics and lower ammonia through biofiltration. Vortex aeration keeps filtrate oxygenated and structures minerals into the water for a more bio-available end product.
For aquaponics farmers, the anaerobic leachate may be used as a fish feed. It contains a relatively low amount of minerals (ideally suited for fish and aquatics). Because a leachate will be rich in carbon and organic nitrogen, plus ammonia it is important to feed into fish tanks slowly and maintain adequate aeration. Fish will further decompose organic nitrogen compounds and release ammonia/urea which requires biofiltration with the system (aquaponics requires in-line biofiltration for nitrification to manage ammonia from fish waste – same as when feeding dry manufactured, carbon rich fish foods)
In-ground growing may utilize this product in a dry or liquid form. If in dry, application rates are similar to that of a 2-7-2 NPK organic fertilizer mixture. The process of anaerobic leaching quickly decomposes the biomass to a more plant-ready, microbe-ready carbon rich liquid. The organics nutrients and humates are a rich nourishment to the microbes and a benefit to the ionic exchange and stable release of nutrients to the plants. Biofiltration may also be used, though it is not necessary when using in soil as soils benefit by feeding the microorganisms with a rich organic food. Dilution ratio ranges from 1:50 following anaerobic extraction.
